On the spellingHorticulturally it’s “crape myrtle.” Down here it’s “crepe,” the flowers really do look like crepe paper, and the pun only works one way. We answer to both.

Pruning windows given here are for USDA zone 9a (Lafayette, LA) and shift with the season. For cultivar selection, crapemyrtle bark scale, and any pesticide question, contact the LSU AgCenter Lafayette Parish Extension office — they’re the local authority and this campaign defers to them.
